Update on Marissa

Marissa is doing so well, you almost wouldn't know she was hurt!  Praise God!  Thank you all for your prayers; they are working. 

We saw the orthopedist, and he saw that she had good posture, range of motion, and that she did use her side that was hurt.  Those are all good signs that she's healing just fine.  He gave her another sling:  an ace bandage that can wrap around her four times.  I know, it's adorable. 

She only had one really bad night.  The first night she was so exhausted that she slept through.  Then the next day she was still feeling fine, so she did her normal things.  Probably a little too much, which resulted in a rough night and hard day the next day.  She asked for her "adwill" (Baby Advil) and ice packs a lot.  She said, "Don't bother my owie, okay?"  "My collarbone herrts."  Chris taught her to ask people to lift her carefully, by her hips.  Over the next few days she was mostly okay again and really acting like herself.  We were so glad to see her feeling better.

Despite this praise report, it was a grueling week, resulting in me having a bad case of frayed nerves and no energy to make cupcakes for the girls' birthday party, even though they had cupcakes on their party napkins and thank you cards.  :)  Oh, well.  Many thanks to our loving family members who traveled long distances to see the girls.  It was a thrill to see almost all of their grandparents, aunts and uncles and ADORABLE cousins!

Seeing her sweet little skeleton like this makes me think of Psalm 139, and how fearfully and wonderfully we are made!

 

I went "old school" for this sling. (It's an old baby blanket that had good stretch.) We alternate between this one and the Ace bandage.

 

A little feel-better tea party, including our new princess dresses that the girls bought with their Christmas money.  Yes, they already like clothes that much.  Yes, we will ALL need to get part-time jobs to support it when they're older.

Sedona has been SUCH a trouper!  She is a caring big sister who really likes to assist in the first aid.  She's been so patient with all the "be carefuls" and "watch outs" and "No, we can't do that until Marissa is better,"  etc.

 

Thank you again for your caring, concern and loving comments.  It really helped to sustain us.  Someone once said that when people are "lifting you up to the Lord" that you feel...uplifted!  Yes!

Praise you, Father, that You love on us through the gifts of friends and family. Thank You for Your provision of them to help us through the hard times and to share in the joy of the good times.  Thank You that You are our Great Physician, and that You touched Marissa this week with Your healing.  Please continue to heal her, and help us to let You in for healing in other areas of our lives.  Amen.
